Wheelchair Racers welcome!
Whether you choose the 5K, 10K or slower paced one mile event, you are good to go for this event. Let us know if you have special needs we can help you meet.
No bikes, skates or strollers on the 5k or 10k events please; strollers are permitted for the one mile course.

Blind runners are welcome - and your sighted partner/guide registers for free. Walk the course if you prefer - and let us know if you have special needs we can help you meet.

What a great way to get in your steps and introduce the children to the joy of running.
The whole family is welcome to hit the one mile course at your own pace. (Children under 18 need parental consent.)
The one mile event is free but registration is required. Strollers are welcome on the one mile course and there will be prizes for our younger participants.

Losing your sight can be a frightening experience. But the Lions have resources to help.
100% of the proceeds from this event - EVERY PENNY - goes to support the Lions Low Vision Resource Center (LVRC) in Olympia. The only Center of its kind in western Washington, the LVRC loans equipment and provides training on devices that can help people with failing vision remain independent and engaged.

Local radio celeb Dick Pust interviews Lions Andrew Beattie and Clair Bourgeois about the Lions Low Vision Resource Center and the volunteer opportunities Olympia offers through the Lions club volunteers and Lions volunteers, including the upcoming Stride for Sight event.

I support Stride for Sight for two simple reasons.
First, I love that the funds go to the Low Vision Resource Center (LVRC). I've witnessed so many individuals who have used the resources of the Center; I've seen their joy and increased hopefulness when they find out there is an available tool or apparatus that makes their lives much easier. They're always astounded that the resources are free, and they can just walk out that day with whatever they found that helps their specific need.
Secondly, the race is just a fun community centric event that brings people together; rallying around a great cause. There's nothing better than being part of such a community-driven effort.

The Lions Low Vision Resource Center is one of those cornerstone community services that just quietly makes Olympia such a great place to live.

I watched my grandmother struggle with failing vision when we couldn't find any resources to help make her life easier. Today - at the LVRC - she would have found peer support and activities and free loaned devices that could have helped her stay independent longer.
Olympia Computer is proud to support Stride for Sight to help keep LVRC services available to folks with failing vision.

Olympia Host Lions Club is proud to host the first annual Stride for Sight 5k/10k run, walk or roll to benefit the Lions Low Vision Resource Center. But we couldn't do it alone, so please help us say thank you to our generous sponsors and tireless volunteers.
