Ever since Helen Keller inspired Lions Club volunteers to be her "knights of the blind," Lions volunteers around the world have dedicated their efforts to preserving and protecting eyesight, as well as assisting individuals with visual impairments.
The Olympia Host Lions Club is no exception – we offer a variety of vision projects to serve the people of Thurston County and beyond, providing great volunteer opportunities in Olympia.
Our initiatives include the Low Vision Resource Center, the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center, vision care for those in need, and vision screening for students in the Olympia area.

When times get tough for our neighbors, the Lions Club volunteers spring into action with projects designed to feed hungry people. From collecting paper bags for use at the Food Bank to delivering thousands of pounds of food each month, Lions volunteers are dedicated to ensuring that Thurston County residents do not go hungry. While meeting attendance is never a requirement for Lions volunteers, we do have fun together. Most meetings feature a speaker who shares insights about our area or the people we serve. The Olympia Host Lions meet each Tuesday at noon at the First Baptist Church in Downtown Olympia. Additionally, the Steamboat Branch Lions gather on the 1st Monday of each month at Griffin Fire Hall #1 on Steamboat Island Road. Have a great idea for a Lions service project? Give us a call!
