From food bank food drives to an award winning program feeding hungry students, Olympia Host Lions are helping to nourish our community. And you can help - contact us today to learn how.

Olympia Host Lions pitch in to pack meals in a bag for the Griffin School District.
Each week, Steamboat Branch Lions deliver simple, shelf stable and easy to prepare family meals - and preparation instructions - to the Griffin School "lunch lady" for distribution to students who may not otherwise have food on the weekend. "We don't know which students get those meals, but we trust the school to get them where they are needed and we are getting feedback that they are truly appreciated," project chair Athena O'Neill reports.

The Griffin School Board recently recognized Steamboat Branch Lion Athena ONeill as a Community Champion for her role in creating weekend Meals in a Bag for district families. Each week Athena and her team of Lions deliver ready to prepare family sized meals to the school to be given to any family in need.

Olympia Host Lions Club makes significant annual donations to our local food bank. In addition, there are many ways Olympia Host Lions help out at the Food Bank, in person or through food drives.
We would be glad to have you join us. Just call to find out where you might fit in.

When a local group needed help getting fresh produce from eastern Washington farms to hungry people in western Washington during the pandemic, the Olympia Host Lions pitched in. First with a caravan of pickup trucks and later with rental trucks, Lions from Olympia headed north to meet trucks coming from eastern Washington and offload fresh produce for distribution in Olympia neighborhoods.

Olympia Host Lions provide lunches several times each month for homeless individuals living at Interfaith Works shelter.
In a team effort, Lions each take one part of a meal and deliver the combined lunches to a central drop off site

Olympia Host Lions donate hundreds of pounds of fresh from the orchard apples to our local Food Bank each year during the annual Lions Apple Sale. See more about the Apple Sale here.

To help keep up with increased demand , Steamboat Lions collect used but usable paper grocery bags for reuse at the Thurston Food Bank. Steamboat residents drop their bags at the local fire department and fire fighters help the Lions load up the bags for transport into town to the food bank. A carload of bags is recycled each week.
