Diabetes and Childhood Cancer

Fighting Diabetes

Camp Leo for Children with Diabetes

Camp Leo for Children with Diabetes provides a week long over night camping experience exclusively for children ages 8 to 18.  Over the years Olympia Host Lions have played keys roles in the operations and management of camp. Growing from 1 week serving 25 children to 4 weeks serving 400 children, camp provides children the tools to live a healthy life with diabetes.

Pediatric Cancer

Teddy Bears for Children with Cancer

Olympia Host Lions and the Steamboat Lions collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals for children going through cancer treatment at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.   Brand new plush animals - cuddle size and with tags still on - can be dropped off at area businesses owned by Lions or supporting the drive.  Lions gather the bears and transport them to the hospital.

In 2023, donated animals can be dropped off between February 1 and March 25 at:

  • Bill Yount Insurance -  1851 State Ave NE, Olympia  (In the Ralph's Thriftway parking lot)
  • Olympia Computer - 209 Washington St NE, Olympia (across from the transit station)
  • Companion Cove - on the Steamboat Peninsula.
